PS4 Exclusive, Bloodborne Gameplay Trailer

Bloodborne Promo ImageIt looks so creepy. Maybe too creepy.

The Action-RPG Bloodborne is being developed by From Software, the creators of the infamously “challenging” Demon’s Souls  and Dark Souls. The game is being published by Sony Computer Entertainment as an exclusive for the Playstation 4.

I kind of wish I could play something with Souls-like gameplay that isn’t horror-themed (not a huge fan of being scared out of my pants), but as is obvious from the name of this game and the gruesome trailer, that’s not going to happen any time soon.

From the looks of it, the new game plays like the Souls games in terms of close-range combat (though maybe a bit faster), which is definitely a good thing. I love the deliberate feel of From Software’s melee action. As for ranged combat and more unique-looking abilities, this trailer didn’t showcase much of that. I’ve always felt that ranged combat is where From Software is lacking, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see what they do with it.

What I can’t tell from the trailer is whether Bloodborne ‘s story and gameplay will be centered around the player character being killed repeatedly. If you didn’t know, that’s what the Souls games were about (you’re some kind of phantom or undead who gets reborn and killed repeatedly until you learn enough from your mistakes to finish the game).

Note: I was made aware of this trailer by Middle Of Nowhere Gaming.

  1. I’m still puttering around with my PS3. I have some games I want to finish and it is taking me a long time. One big reason for this: Skyrim. I’ve had Demons Souls but never played mainly because I was concerned I’d throw my console of my 19th floor balcony in a rage.

    • I’m actually in the same boat. I have a backlog of PS3 games to finish before I really get in on the next generation of consoles. I bought Demon’s Souls way back when, but I just finished it a few months ago. Dark Souls will get the same treatment, eventually (it’s very different when you aren’t being invaded every 5 minutes like these games are during peak-popularity).

  2. I am such a fan of rpg games and yes soul games made me so angry that I sold it but a new gen gaming console will make you not wanna throw it. The Ps4 is such a great console with looks and other capabilities that you will just love it but I’m looking forward to this game because of this blog post.
